his card in both 1999 and 2002. Also found his way onto The European Tour through the Challenge Tour in
2004, thanks to a victory that season in the Rolex Trophy. Made the cut in his last six tournaments in
2005 to keep his card. Finished a career high 29th in the 2007 Order of Merit. Achieved two tied

Daniel Gaunt On His Way To Turnberry!
John Letters staff professional Daniel Gaunt fires magnificent rounds of 69 and 67 to
book his place in the 2009 Open championship. With only 12 golfers going through from
nearly 300 qualifying hopefuls, big names such as Jose Maria Olazabal fell by the
wayside at the Kilmarnock Barassie golf course, but Gaunt’s ten under total was good
enough to see him snatch one of the qualification spots. Commiserations go to fellow
professional and older brother Chris Gaunt, who narrowly missed out on qualifying by
a single shot at the Glasgow Gailes venue.

Returns to The European Tour International Schedule in 2005 having come through the Qualifying School.
Secured his maiden professional victory on the Challenge Tour with success in the 2002 Rolex Trophy in
Geneva in August, a win which spurred him on to finish sixth in the Rankings and secure a place on The
European Tour in 2003. However, he finished the year in 166th place on the Volvo Order of Merit and
played the Challenge Tour in 2004. Coached by Stuart Morgan at the Grove, he still seeks advice from
fellow Yorkshireman and boyhood hero, Howard Clark, now a Sky TV analyst.
